This is the focus of Idfactory – a documentary production company based in Toronto. Our focus is making beautiful films built on a foundation of powerful storytelling.
We are currently in postproduction for Railfan, a documentary feature that follows a parent and artist creating a photo series of autistic young people who love subway trains in New York City. Production began in 2021 and completed filming in September, 2025. Coming to Festivals and Theatres in Fall 2026.
Our most recent film is A Bullet Pulling Thread – an award winning documentary about a quilter who channels her grief and pursues justice through her art after the RCMP killed her activist brother in Lytton, BC. A Bullet Pulling Thread is available on TVOntario, Vimeo, and will also be available for educational screenings through McIntyre Media.

Our work covers everything from digital series to documentary features. Idfactory also provides consulting services, creating treatments, writing grants and digital marketing for companies whom include ACSA Community Services, Wavelength Music, Tortuga Films, Embreate and True Perspective VR. Our creative lead is Ian Daffern – a writer, development producer and director with twenty years experience in film and television.
